About the Department 

The Department of Chest & TB, Sri Ramachandra Medical college & Research Institute was established in 1989 as a separate unit run by National and Internationally Trained, Experienced, Capable, Motivated, Dedicated Faculty and Pulmonary Physicians working round the clock dealing with various acute and chronic lung problems like Tuberculosis, Asthma, COPD, Smoking Cessation, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Lung Cancer ,Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Sleep related breathing disorders and other rare lung diseases.
Recognized by MCI, as a Postgraduate department in 2010 and started M.D. Respiratory Medicine in the same year.
The Out-Patient services with 2 units and 60 inpatient beds. A state of the art sleep lab, Pulmonary Function lab including diffusion capacity , a modern Interventional Pulmonology suite – Video Bronchoscopy, Video Thoracoscopy and Endobronchial Ultra-Sonography (EBUS) are functional on all working days.
In addition to Competency Based Teaching methods for Under-graduates and Post-graduates, like didactic lectures, seminars, bedside clinics, the department endeavors to leverage emerging technologies to provide a blended learning experience to students by conducting hands on training in intubation, acute airway management on mannequins in skills lab. The Department also caters to the needs 7 Para-clinical courses like B.Sc Respiratory Care Technology & M.Sc Respiratory Therapy, PFT Technician training programme in collaboration with Indian Chest Society.
