Speech, language and swallowing OP and IP clinical services:

The routine clinical activities include the following: 

  1. Assessment and management of communication skills
    1. Assessment and management of childhood speech and language skills 
    2. Assessment and monitoring of the progress of adult communication skills 
    3. Assessment of childhood Language and literacy skills 
    4. Assess and monitor the progress of patients with voice disorders
    5. Use instrumentation (Stroboscopy, Spirometry, Ling waves, PRAAT, CSL, MDVP) to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of voice
    6. Assess and monitor the progress of patients with speech sound disorder 
    7. Using instrumentation (Nasendoscopy) to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of velopharyngeal functions and Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP)
    8. Assess and monitor the progress of patients with fluency disorders 
    9. Assessing and establishing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) techniques and strategies
    10. Bedside assessment and management of communication disorders in acute care  
    11. Voice and speech assessment and management for clients with head and neck cancer (Oncology Rehabilitation)  
    12. Selecting, fitting, and establishing effective use of prosthetic/adaptive devices for communication, swallowing, or other upper aerodigestive functions (Tracheoesophageal prostheses, speaking valves, electrolarynx).
    13. Providing services to modify or enhance communication performance (care and improvement of the professional voice, personal/professional communication effectiveness).
    14. Group therapy (SCOPE and SPLASH) for individuals with speech and language disorders
  1. Counseling for readiness for schooling/ reading and writing skills/ candidacy for vocation training etc
  2. Empower and train the individual, family, and related community members for the prevention of various communication disorders  
  3. Multidisciplinary medical/ community camps are conducted to screen for communication difficulties 
  4. Providing teleconsultation and telerehabilitation for individuals with communication disorders 
  5. Assessment and intervention of feeding and swallowing skills
    1. Screen/ assess/ provide feeding and swallowing intervention for neonates, infants, and children. 
    2. Screen/ assess/provide swallowing intervention for adults with neurogenic disorders 
    3. Conduct swallowing assessment and management for clients with head and neck cancer 
    4. Bedside assessment and management of swallowing disorders in acute care  
    5. Using instrumentation (MBS/ videofluoroscopy swallow study, FEES) to observe and assess swallowing
    6. Empower and train the individual, family, and related community members for the prevention of various swallowing disorders 
    7. Multidisciplinary medical/ community camps are conducted to screen for feeding and swallowing issues 
    8. Providing teleconsultation and telerehabilitation for individuals with feeding and swallowing disorders
