ABOUT US

The Department of Physiotherapy provides physiotherapy services for both Outpatients as well as in patients.

OUTPATIENT PHYSIOTHERAPY

An average of 200 - 250 patients are being given physiotherapy daily. The services include massage, manual therapy, movement therapy, electrotherapy modalities, thermal agents, cryotherapy, exercise therapy etc. The beneficiaries are patients with musculoskeletal problems, degenerative conditions, stroke patients etc. The Physiotherapy unit (F1) is located in the first floor of Sri N.P.V Ramasamy Udayar Block and an outpatient unit is located in ground floor of the Faculty of Physiotherapy.

IN PATIENT PHYSIOTHERAPY

An average of 300 - 350 patients are given physiotherapy daily. Patients in Intensive Care Unit are given round the clock care by the Physiotherapists.

Clinical Focus

Outpatient services

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy department and Cardiac Care Centre jointly started Cardiac Rehabilitation unit in September 1999. We have received excellent feedback from the patients who have attended the Cardiac Rehabilitation Services.

Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics
A separate Obstetric and Gynecological Physiotherapy clinic has been set up for educating about pre & post natal care  exercises and various women’s health issues.

Karthikeyan Child Development Unit
An early intervention program is conducted along with neonatology department.

Vidya Sudha
School for children with special needs, where physiotherapist works in team with professionals like occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, special educators, and social workers to integrate the children in the society.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centre
The pulmonary rehabilitation program is conducted by the multidisciplinary team which includes Chest physician, Physiotherapist, Respiratory therapist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, nutritionist, social worker, nurse, educationist and a yoga therapist who are all trained for pulmonary rehabilitation.

Rheumatology
The department of physiotherapy and rheumatology jointly renders care for patients with rheumatological conditions in improving their quality of life.

Organ transplantation

Organ transplantation recipients are special group of patient population who suffer residual muscle weakness, fatigue, and low functional capacity after surgical interventions. Physiotherapist plays a major role in improving functional capacity, muscle strength and reducing fatigue in this population. Structured, early graded exercise training would be of the most important treatment plan for this population. 

Sri Ramachandra Rehabilitation Centre (SRRC)-SAHAYA

The ultimate goal of SRRC is to train the patient to access their home safely even if they are functioning at a different level than before their injury or illness. There will be a team of multi-disciplinary rehabilitation professionals (Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Speech therapist and Clinical psychologist) who will train the patients and their families.

Geriatric care

It is a multidisciplinary clinic were patients will be referred for physiotherapy with Neuro muscular issues. Each patient is assessed and treated for restoration of functional activities and prevention of Secondary complications. Physiotherapist plays a major role in improving  balance, muscle strength and reducing fear of falls in this population. 

Lymphedema care

This clinic monitors and prevents lymphedema formation in post mastectomy or post CA gynaecological conditions patients.It promotes awareness among these patients and enhance great well being of the patients.

Obesity clinics

This clinic is used to measure body composition n and provide advices on percentage of body fat ad way to reduce it effectively
