About the Department

We at SRMC have a very well organized, first of its kind, child development unit 'Karthikeyan Child Development Unit' which offers assessment and comprehensive plan of action to optimize the child’s developmental potential. We are a multidisciplinary unit which provides through Pediatric and Neurological examination with developmental focus, Developmental assessment, Psychological assessment, Speech, language, Hearing and Feeding assessments, Physiotherapy assessment and occupational therapy assessment using standardized tools, ophthalmic evaluation and nutritional assessment as a package under one roof. After the assessment, parents will be apprised of their child’s condition and a detailed plan for intervention will be provided by the developmental paediatrician.

KARTHIKEYAN CHILD DEVELOPMENT UNIT (KCDU):

The unit focuses on assessment and offers a comprehensive plan for intervention to optimize
child’s developmental potential. We have expertise in Autism, High risk follow-up of new-
borns, Poor scholastic performance, ADHD, Behavioural problems, Cerebral palsy, Down
syndrome, Hearing and Visual problems and providing psychological support to
parents. We are a multidisciplinary unit which provides thorough pediatric and neurological
examination with developmental focus, developmental assessment, psychological assessment,
speech, language, hearing and feeding assessments, physiotherapy assessment and
occupational therapy assessment using standardized tools, ophthalmic evaluation and nutritional
