About The Department
The Emergency Department (ED) of Sri Ramachandra Medical Center is a Level 1 Center. We operate 24/7, offering services to patients in need of emergency care. Specialist emergency consultants are available around the clock for patients. The ED is manned by nursing staff trained for emergency situations. We are supported by pre-hospital paramedics and a 24/7 ambulance service. We also provide disaster care to the community in the event of major incidents.
With 30 beds, multi-parameter monitors, ventilators and point of care diagnostics, we handle emergency cases efficiently. For patients in need, we provide emergency dialysis as part of our care.
Our Emergency Team is supported by multi-specialists and round-the-clock services:
- 24/7 radiology services (including CT scan and MRI scan)
- Interventional cardiologist for cardiac emergencies
- Full-time Cath Lab facility
- Dedicated Brain Stroke team of neurologist, neurosurgeon, interventional radiologist with facilities for timely thrombolysis and intervention in acute stroke cases
- Trauma team, to handle injuries and polytrauma
- Paediatric and paediatric surgery team for all child-related emergencies
- Intensive Care team (with separate units for medical, surgical, neuro and cardiac ICUs)
The ED uses the “TRIAGE” tool to prioritize and identify patients who require urgent care. Patients in critical conditions are treated first under this system.
