About The Department
Emergency department (ED) of Sri Ramachandra Medical Center is a level 1 center providing unscheduled services to patients in need of emergency care 24/7 with specialist emergency consultant available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ED is manned by emergency trained nursing staffs and also supported by qualified pre hospital paramedics backed by 24/7 ambulance services.
The department provides disaster care to the community in the event of a Major Incident
Emergency department of SRMC has a 30 bed equipped with multi-parameter monitors, ventilators, point of care diagnostics, along with emergency kidney dialysis facility.
Competent Emergency team is supported by
- 24/7 radiology services including CT scan and MRI scan,
- Interventional cardiologist with full time Cath lab facility,
- Brain Stroke team including neurologist, neurosurgeon, and interventional radiologist with on time thrombolysis or intervention facility in patients presenting with acute brain stroke,
- Trauma team to handle multiple injured patients or polytrauma
- Paediatric and paediatric surgery team to handle all child emergencies
- Intensive care team with separate medical, surgical, neuro and cardiac ICUs.
Functioning of ED : To prioritize most sick patients requiring immediate care, ED uses a tool called “TRIAGE”, which means sorting out. Those patients in need of immediate life threatening interventions are attended first.
