About the Department

Our department was started as a small department in with minimal consultants and equipment.

Currently,the department consists of an experienced team of SeniorConsultants who are assisted
byAssistant Physicians and Nursing staff functioning in B2 block of the medical centre where
out-patients are attended to on all days, between 8:00am to 4:00pm, except on holidays.
Emergency services are provided on all days, including holidays, by the duty consultant.

Our out-patient department is equipped with state-of-art endoscopic system, microscope, and
stroboscope. The Faculty of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) works in with our
team, lending their expertise treating the patients.

Keeping pace with the advances made in the field of ENT, the Operating room is equipped with
advanced equipment such asCO2 LASER, Zeiss Sensera microscope, UHDendoscopes with UHD
monitors, microdebriders and Coblation® and latest instruments.

A wide variety of surgeries are performed including Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS),
Skull base surgery, LASER andCoblation® assisted surgeries,Adeno-tonsillectomy, Tympanoplasty
and Mastoidectomy, Laryngotracheal reconstruction, Cochlear implantation,tumour excision,
surgery for sleep apnoea are performed by the experienced team of Consultants with the help of
experienced anaesthetic team.

The Consultants keep updating their skills by interactive sessions with the masters in the field of
ENT through CME programme, workshops and conferences, both nationally and internationally. The
ENT department is in the process of continuously upgrading itself to keep pace with the ever
growing demands of patient care. It will leave no stone unturned in improving itself to provide world
class health care.

Cochlear Implant Programme of SRU(CLIPS)
The CochlearImplant Programme of Sri Ramachandra University (CLIPS) was conceived in
December 2004 to provide comprehensive diagnostic,therapeutic and rehabilitative care under one
roof benefiting more than 350 patients since then.

The cochlear implant team comprises of ENT surgeons, Audiologists, Auditory verbal therapists,
Paediatricians and Child Psychologists.

The Department has been recognized by theTamil NaduGovernment as a centre for performing
this treatment underthe Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme
(TNCMCHIS) sinceMay 2013 providing access to patients belonging to the lowincome group.

Voice Clinic:
Sri Ramachandra Voice Clinic was established in 2006. The feature of this clinic is that the patient
is jointly evaluated by the ENT surgeon & Speech pathologist / therapist & management is planned.
Detailed assessment of the voice and vocal cords is performed with the help of ATMOS
stroboscopy system.. Management is then performed through voice therapy with or without surgery.
