About the Department
The Department of Nephrology of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Sri Ramachandra University established in the year 1995 is a premier centre for specialized nephrology care. It is one of the country’s leading dialysis and renal transplant centers.
Department of Nephrology at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre has focused on constant improvement in various services. The Department of Nephrology offers diagnosis and treatment for all types of kidney diseases. The department participates in an active renal transplant program, both live related and deceased donors, over 800 transplantation done till date and over 3000 dialysis done per month. All modalities of dialysis care, and clinical research studies are carried out on a regular basis.
The mission of the Department of Nephrology, consistent with the Sri Ramachandra University is to:
- Provide the highest quality care for patients with kidney disease and hypertension.
- Train students, residents and postdoctoral fellows
- Conduct state-of-the-art research into the causes, prevention and treatment of kidney disease and hypertension.
It has a MCI recognized 3 year DM postgraduate course. In addition it also has 4 year BSc. course in Dialysis Technology (Allied Health sciences) and recently 2 year course in MSc. Renal Sciences.

- 2010 – 1st Paediatric kidney transplant
- 2011 – DM Nephrology seat increased to 3 seats
- 2014- ISN Training Program In Intervention Nephrology By Dr.Lathakshar Kumbhar,Detroid, Usa For 10 Days In March 2014
- 2016 – First SWAP RENAL TRANSPLANTATION
- 2022 – Started maintenance haemodialysis unit in G Block
The faculty of Nephrology consists of adequately trained and highly qualified nephrologists who are competent enough to deal with all aspects of kidney diseases, intensive nephrology care, all modalities of dialysis and renal transplant including recent advances in diagnosis and therapeutics. In addition to unique diagnostic capabilities, nephrology staff members regularly organize several specialty clinics.
