Established in 1985, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre has grown into one of the most trusted centres for women’s healthcare. Our department supports 1.4 lakh outpatient visits and 11,000 admissions every year. Our doors to outpatients are open between 8 AM-8 PM from Monday to Saturday for ease of consultation and access.

Maternal care is one of our priority focus areas. We conduct routine check-ups during early pregnancy, birth, and after. High-risk pregnancies are closely monitored at our dedicated Feto-Maternal Unit, where we offer advanced care. Women’s pregnancy journeys are supported at all stages with our advanced prenatal care. Our facilities cover ultrasound imaging, prenatal testing, ultrasound-targeted amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and intrauterine fetal procedures.

We’ve prepared our labour rooms for safe childbirth with advanced facilities and 24/7 medical staff support. Our qualified team of obstetricians, nurses, anesthetists, and neonatologists is available round-the-clock for timely care. We are always prepared for obstetrics emergencies with our Blood Bank supporting us in critical situations. In complex referrals like postpartum hemorrhage, our skilled team ensures timely management through uterine artery embolization. For those who choose it, our anesthetists provide epidural analgesia to ease labor pain safely.

We provide Physiotherapy in the antenatal and postnatal periods. This helps women with their recovery after childbirth or surgery. For mothers who prefer comfort and privacy, we provide suite-style delivery rooms, a feature exclusive in Chennai. 

We have Asia’s best neonatologists with us, who attend to newborns 24/7. In case of complex pregnancies, we offer multidisciplinary care at the Sri Ramachandra Center of Perinatal Excellence (SCOPE). This center features specialists from Obstetrics, Feto Maternal Unit, Neonatology, Genetics, Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Surgery, and Pediatric Nephrology departments. The center offers genetic counseling and Perinatal care to the family, providing information and guidance.

We also provide health care for women of all ages, besides maternity care. Our work with gynecological endocrinologists helps adolescent girls with hormonal imbalance and menstrual irregularities. For patients with excessive bleeding or fibroids, we offer non-invasive procedures like thermal ablation and uterine artery embolization. These reduce the need for traditional surgery and support quick recovery.

Our department also specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures, usually referred to as keyhole surgery, for gynecological and fertility concerns. These low-impact surgeries are efficient, carry minimal risk, and reduce post-surgery pain. We provide continued support to women through menopause and beyond. We provide women with gentle guidance to manage the changes that this phase brings. They are advised to regularly check for gynecologic cancers. Our daily services include pap smears, colposcopy, and other tests. If cancer is diagnosed, a multidisciplinary team of specialists from gynecology, surgery, oncology, and radiotherapy provides care and support.
