About the Department
The Department of Pediatric Surgery deals with surgery for all children from newborn to adolescent upto 18 years. It includes newborn surgery, urology, health care, gasto-intestinal surgery, thoracic surgery, minimal access surgery and Oncology in Children. The hospital caters to daily outpatients, inpatient services, Operating Theater 4 days a week and 24 hours emergency service centre. The department was awarded the 3rd prize for the best Institute at National level for the best Pediatric Surgical awareness week. Accreditation has been done by JCI and NABH. Team work and patient centric focus are the hallmark of our department.
Department has performed many firsts in the state and the country
- Laparoscopic Neuroblastoma surgery in an 1 month old child
- Laparoscopic Hellers cardiomyotomy in a 5 month old child
- Laparoscopic diaphragmatic hernia in a New born
- Laparoscopic Pancreatico-jejunostomy in children with Chronic pancreatitis
- Rare Surgery: Removed Bundle of Hair from the Stomach of a Teenage Mentally Challenged Girl.

- Circumcision, Hernia, Hydrocele, tongue tie, node biopsy
- Undescended testis, Hypospadias
- Appendicitis, Cholelithiasis
- Anorectal malformation, Hirschsprungs disease
- Congenital diaphragmatic hernia, TEF and Atresias in newborn
- Pyeloplasty, Vesico-ureteric reflux

- 6 residents have passed out from the department and well placed across the country
- Our faculty are members of various national medical organizations
- Our scientific work has been published in various reputed national and international journals
- Our department conducts, workshops and webinar conferences in regular basis to benefit the community
- A thematic Pediatric Surgical Awareness week is conducted as a part of children day celebration every year with active community participation
